What “Verified by Business” means

When you see ✓ Verified by Business on a listing, it means the owner of that business signed in and confirmed their information was accurate on the date shown.

How a business earns it

To claim a listing, a business has to receive a one-time code at the contact email we already had on file for them — an address we found through our own research, not one they typed in. Only after receiving that code can they edit their listing or verify it.

What it does not mean

It is not a check by us. ArborProof has not independently verified any badged company’s licensing, insurance, WSIB coverage, or arborist certifications. The badge tells you the information is current and comes from the business itself — nothing more.

Before hiring anyone to work on your trees, ask for proof of liability insurance and WSIB clearance, and confirm any certification they claim directly with the issuing body.

Why some listings don’t have it

Most don’t, and that isn’t a mark against them. The great majority of companies in this directory were researched and listed by us without the business being involved at all. No badge simply means nobody from that company has claimed the listing yet.

Why it expires

A badge lasts 12 months. After that it disappears until the business checks their listing again, so the date you see is always a date somebody actually stood behind. The badge also clears immediately if we correct a company’s details ourselves — they verified their version, not ours.

What about the ARB Score?

The ARB Score is separate and entirely ours — it’s built from independently checked signals like certification status, review history, and years in business. A business verifying its own listing has no effect on its score.
